Yes exactly. Parallel distortion is also goog
Will give it a try!
Classic Dub technique.
I used to do that with the aux sends on my Mackie going into a reverb but now I use a MIDI controller mapped to the sends to do it.
Not sure if I want to explore the beaten path. I figured out a way to make dub techno, might not be the best way, but it results in a more unique sound.
ok this is excellent. more please and studio mix
Need some mixing thingy… not sure what to pick, there’s so many.
got no experience but pioneer has been solid for decades for cdj’s now so probly not a bad choice
just go for a model then watch reviews
I’m on it, but it’s quite the rabbit hole.
Although I like using Traktor, I’d suggest looking at something that supports rekordbox. Traktor hasn’t had any meaningful updates in quite some time.
Isn’t traktor 3 sort of new? That’s what I am using and I really like it together with my old s2 mk2. But it’s a good point, NI is going down the toilet it seems
Yeah 3 is maybe a few years old at this point. Though it’s only main new feature was to get peeps on a subscription model for stem tracks which never really took off.
No real advancements in 10years. Their hardware line hasn’t seen any updates in a long time either. Pretty dead I’d say.
it was a Mad Professor gig that opened my eyes to the technique. I was on the balcony looking down at him and could see everything he was doing on the desk at the same time as hearing it. So good
i don’t think the sw matters that much. it’s not like he’s headlining any festivals or something they all do their thing
lol, true.
Picking up a used NI controller wouldn’t be a bad option. I’d just hate for him to drop serious $ on a dying ecosystem.
this is why I considered NI despite the standard being rekordbox. Found a good deal 2nd hand. Much better than the numark mixtrak 3 or whatever it was I had before (the fancier numarks are probably much better)
If they work at all. :noteeth:
I picked up free DJ software called mixx and tried it out real quick tonight. It’s just like rekordbox but it has all the features you have to pay for. Anyway they have all the controllers mapped so you can pick it and go.
whats your price range billy? i did a lot of research before i bought mine
updating some more of my old dubs with learned mixdown technique… and damn was i squashing so much of my shit. now it’s less sub, more eq and saturation, less overall FX in the signal chain, etc. i am planning to gradually slip out the fresh mixes alongside some new dubs
